Book Series That Didn’t Suit My Fancy

I’m expecting a little bit of “what the heck” from this post, but I just had to share which book series I didn’t finish. Also, I didn’t like Day 5’s writing challenge, so I made up my own that would better suit me.

The three series I couldn’t finish happen to be pretty popular and loved by many book nerds. I just couldn’t get past either the first or second book depending on the series.

3 Series I Didn’t Finish

Harry Potter Series *GASP*

I know, I know, but I just couldn’t do it. The worst part, I never even finished the first book or watched all the movies.

Book Series That Didn't Suit My Fancy

As a popular book, I thought I would be able to get into it and finish the series, I just couldn’t do it.  Now, I love the magic surrounding the book, but the story just never caught my interest. Maybe, someday I will pick it up and try again, but for now, it’ll just have to stay in my “meh” pile.

The Selection

This series had a lot of hype, but honestly, I can’t see why. It was slow and a little boring in my opinion. The characters didn’t even catch my interest. It was a cute story line though.

The Mortal Instruments

Now, I did finish the first two books in this series, and I liked them. Unfortunately, that’s as far as I got. I tried my best to get through the rest of the series, but it just seemed to just drag on and took forever to get to main points. I never even started the TV series because I was afraid it would be the same as the books.

If you loved these series let me know, and maybe you can change my mind! Also if you have any series suggestions, please don’t hesitate to share!

I couldn’t get into Harry Potter either! I’ve had people tell me that if I could get through the first book, it’d be easier to get through since the first books is more for children as the audience. BUT I just can’t do it. There are so many other books out there that I WANT to read that it’s gotten pushed to the bottom of the pile.

Exactly, I just couldn’t do it! There are so many more books that were worth the read!

GASP indeed to not finishing Harry Potter!! Just kidding…we all know that sometimes we just can’t get into books that everyone else just seems to love. I didn’t get into Harry Potter until I saw a preview for the last movie that made me want to see the movie. I watched the previous movies so I could watch the last one in theaters. Then I finally read the book series some years later.

I couldn’t even get into the movies 🙁 I watched bits and pieces of each of them, but that was as far as I got.

I couldn’t finish the Harry Potter series either, not even the first book. Never could understand what was supposed to be so wonderful about it. I read it because I was a fussy children’s bookseller and wanted to love what I stocked. I didn’t buy it.

I think I used to own the first book, but never did finish and lost the book.
