When Life Gives You Lemons… Make Lemonade?

Hey, Nerdy Peeps! Do you ever get to that point in life where it would just be so easy to become a hermit?

Make Lemonade?

When Life Gives You Lemons

Oh, boy has the last two months been a doozy!  I really don’t even know where to start this post other than I am at the end of my rope. And when I’m at the end of my rope it’s time to let go and let God handle things. Even though lately it feels like He’s kind of just sitting back and watching everything fall apart. No, I’m not blaming Him because I know he does things to make us stronger and doesn’t give us anything we can’t handle. Lately, though it’s like come on God I need a break.

See, back in the beginning of June my husband tore his ACL and has been off work since. Sunday the 23rd, he fell and broke his patella on the same leg he just had repaired. (I know I need to put him in a bubble). All of this combined with the accident he had back in November has just been one tornado after the other, but I can’t lose hope. Right?

So, anyway enough of the ugly. Let’s find some funny quotes and some fun facts. (I found most of these from Google images and The Fact Site)

When Life Gives You Lemons

Funny Quotes

“If someone calls you ‘ugly’ have a good comeback and say ‘excuse me, I am not a mirror!”

“I’m going to stand outside. So if anyone asks, I’m outstanding.”

“Admit it… Life would be so boring without me.”

“I am not anti-social. I am just really pro-me.”

Fun Facts

Banging your head against a wall burns 150 calories an hour.

A flock of crows is known as a murder.

The person who invented the Frisbee was cremated and made into frisbees after he died!

The total number of steps in the Eiffel Tower is 1665.

I hope these quotes and fun facts made you smile and hopefully laugh. They were definitely needed after the months I’ve had!

What are some funny quotes or fun facts you have? Let’s fill the comments with laughs and smiles!

Spotlight Sunday: An Oldie but a Goody

Hey, Nerdy Peeps! Today for the spotlight I am bringing you one of the longest books I’ve read. In high school, we had one of those reading groups and my group chose Lonesome Dove. I love this book. Of course, I’m going to tell you why this spotlight Sunday is an oldie but a goody!

Lonesome Dove

Book Blurb:
A love story, an adventure, and an epic of the frontier, Larry McMurtry’s Pulitzer Prize— winning classic, Lonesome Dove, the third book in the Lonesome Dove tetralogy, is the grandest novel ever written about the last defiant wilderness of America. Journey to the dusty little Texas town of Lonesome Dove and meet an unforgettable assortment of heroes and outlaws, whores and ladies, Indians and settlers. Richly authentic, beautifully written, always dramatic, Lonesome Dove is a book to make us laugh, weep, dream, and remember. (Goodreads)

Spotlight Sunday: An Oldie but a Goody

Why this oldie deserves the spotlight…

As a Texas girl, of course, I am going to love a book set in Texas! Now, that’s not the only reason, I also loved the book because the writing style Larry McMurtry uses is amazing and pulls you right in. The characters in this book will also make you feel like you are a cowgirl or cowboy on a cattle drive. My favorite character is definitely Gus! He is a hoot and in my opinion, makes this book the best.

So, trust me when I say you will want to jump in and ride along as you join these characters on their cattle drive from Texas to Montana. It’s full of grumpy old men, youngin’s, and a little romance. What more could you want? Oh, and I did mention it’s set in Texas!

Have you read Lonesome Dove? Let me know what you think!

The Battle of Having Anxiety and Depression

Hey, Nerdy Peeps! I found a quote or rather an explanation of what it’s really like to have anxiety and depression. So, I am going to share it with you, then give you my thoughts.

The Battle of Having Anxiety and Depression

Being Scared and Tired at the same time…

I am scared of a lot of things, and most of them are not small. When I say I’m tired, I’m not necessarily ready for bed but my mind is tired of the constant battle it fights.

Fear of Failure but no urge to be Productive…

I hate failing at anything! It makes me freak out and doubt myself and that is the worst feeling for me. I’m also not good at being productive, I honestly have very little motivation most of the time. And the worst thing of all is I hate failing at being productive.

Wanting Friends but hating to Socialize…

Social situations are horrible for me. I stick to a corner and I just stay as quiet as I can so I’m not noticed. If I’m not comfortable, I have a really hard time making conversation with new people. This is probably why my friends are sparse, even though I would love to make more. I would love to have more than my handful of friends so, I could come out of my shell more and learn not to be socially awkward.

Wanting to be Alone but not wanting to be Lonely…

My biggest fear is being lonely. It literally feels like I’m suffocating, but there are also times when I want to be alone. I know weird right! I like my alone time when I’m writing or reading, but when it comes to being by myself with nothing to do it scares me.

Caring about Everything then caring about Nothing…

Most of the time I care way too much. I will go out of my way just to help someone who needs it. Now, on the other hand, there are times when I don’t care at all.

Feeling everything at once then feeling paralyzingly Numb…

I can have thousands of emotions flowing through my head at one minute. Even to the point where the world is way too overwhelming to be a part of. Then the next minute I can feel completely numb to everything around me. That’s when I shut down and shut off from the world.

So, next time you tell someone with anxiety and depression to liven up take a look at this explanation. You’ll learn why we may be so exhausted all the time or why we fight a battle with our own mind. My biggest advice is that to be patient with anyone you know that has anxiety and depression. Also, if they don’t want to talk to make them sometimes they just need you to sit with them.

Check out this post to get a little more of an understanding on my fight!

Blogger Recognition Award!! (Bonus Post)

Tip #1

DO NOT… I repeat DO NOT, just jump right in. I don’t know how many times I changed my theme and fonts and colors all while I was live! My blog only had one post when I hit publish and it suffered. So, take your time and be patient. Have at least 3 or 4 posts ready to go, and make sure your site is exactly where you want it before you go public!

Blogger Recognition Award!! (Bonus Post)

Tip #2

Have a posting schedule. I started out posting 6 days a week and my content was awful. I wasn’t getting hardly any views, and I felt overwhelmed. Coming up with new content every day was hard and I was starting to get repetitive and boring. So, I went from 6 days a week to posting 2 days a week, with a bonus post thrown in every now and then. My content also got a lot better, and more people started reading and subscribing. Choose the post schedule that works for you!
