Weird Things That Help My Depression

I love watching YouTube videos! Especially the beauty channels, they always brighten me up and I learn the best tips from watching them. Another favorite is prank channels or DIYs. I always find myself cracking up laughing at the prank channels, and wanting to head to Hobby Lobby or Michael’s because of the DIY channels! Oh, and I can’t forget the book channels, because hello I’m a book nerd!

My Favorite Channels:

weird things that help my depression

Now, I can’t draw to save my life, but if I take my time and concentrate sometimes I can get a good sketch out. Sketching takes my mind off of a lot of things and helps me clear my mind because I am focusing on a certain task. I haven’t sketched in a while and I think my sketch pad is calling my name!

There you have it, all the weird things that help my depression!

What are some weird things that help your depression? Do we share anything that helps?

The Cover Made Me Buy It

Hey, Nerdy Peeps! Today I am bringing you a series that I wasn’t sure I would and I only bought it for the cover. Well, let me tell you this, I loved this series, and yes the cover made me buy it! Um, Jessie what is the series? Well Peeps, it’s the Trylle Series by Amanda Hocking!

Presenting The Cover(s)

Switched – Trylle #1

Book Blurb: When Wendy Everly was six-years-old, her mother was convinced she was a monster and tried to kill her. It isn’t until eleven years later that Wendy discovers her mother might have been right.
With the help of Finn Holmes, Wendy finds herself in a world she never knew existed – a world both beautiful and frightening, and Wendy’s not sure she wants to be a part of it.

The Cover Made Me Buy It

I mean just look at all these covers, they are gorgeous! Now, I bought the audio version of this book from Audible, but I still love the covers and plan to purchase the physical copies! (This is just the first books!)

Torn – Trylle #2

Book Blurb: When Wendy Everly first discovers the truth about herself—that she’s a changeling switched at birth—she knows her life will never be the same. Now she’s about to learn that there’s more to the story…
She shares a closer connection to her Vittra rivals than she ever imagined—and they’ll stop at nothing to lure her to their side. With the threat of war looming, her only hope of saving the Trylle is to master her magical powers—and marry an equally powerful royal. But that means walking away from Finn, her handsome bodyguard who’s strictly off-limits… and Loki, a Vittra prince with whom she shares a growing attraction.
Torn between her heart and her people, between love and duty, Wendy must decide her fate. If she makes the wrong choice, she could lose everything, and everybody, she’s ever wanted… in both worlds.

Just going to leave these here so you can admire them just like I do!

Ascend – Trylle #3

Book Blurb: Wendy Everly is facing an impossible choice. The only way to save the Trylle from their deadliest enemy is by sacrificing herself.  If she doesn’t surrender to the Vittra, her people will be thrust into a brutal war against an unbeatable foe.  But how can Wendy leave all her friends behind… even if it’s the only way to save them?
The stakes have never been higher because her kingdom isn’t the only thing she stands to lose. After falling for both Finn and Loki, she’s about to make the ultimate choice… who to love forever. One guy has finally proven to be the love of her life—and now all their lives might be coming to an end.
Everything has been leading to this moment.  The future of her entire world rests in her hands—if she’s ready to fight for it.

And last but certainly not least the amazing third book!

OK, so now I am going to go back and listen to this series again because these covers are telling me I need to! (Yes book covers tell me what to do!)

What books did you buy because of the cover? Were they any good?

Goals I Have Accomplished

Hey, Nerdy Peeps! This is going to be a follow-up post to my 10 Goals to Accomplish in July! Yes, I know it’s almost the end of August but hey I had to fit it in somewhere! I will definitely talk about the goals I accomplished and also the goals I will continue to have since well I didn’t get very far with them!

Goals I Accomplished

  1. Gain more blog subscribers!
    • I have gained so many new followers and I couldn’t be more thankful for all of the support and love my blog gets!
  2. Exercise more often!
    • I have finally started and have stuck to my fitness journey! Now, I have hit a couple of bumps that have set me behind, but that’s OK, I will get back to it!
  3. Read 6 Books!
    • I can’t believe I actually accomplished this one! Boy am I glad I did though! (Lots of reviews coming soon)
  4. Drink more water!
    • I am slowly but surely getting this down! Water is boring to me and I’m not a big fan of drinking it all the time

goals I have accomplished

So, those are the 4 out of 10 goals I accomplished from July! That’s a big step for me because usually, I’ll give up and not even try to get any of them done. Now, as for the ones I haven’t accomplished I am going to give myself a little more time to get them knocked out!

Goals I still need to get done

  1. Start and finish my children’s chapter book
  2. Work on my EBook for Taking Back Your Life: Escaping Depression and Anxiety
  3. Work on my adult novel
  4. Organize my office (this is a big one)
  5. Write and post more book reviews
  6. Work on more opt-ins!

Now, those are the goals I have left to get done. I have realized a month is not enough time to get these knocked out so, I am giving myself until the end of October. Also, I made them public so you guys hold me to it to get them done!

What are some goals you have accomplished or that you are wanting to accomplish? Let me know, we can keep each other accountable!

What Happens When I Have Writers Block

Hey, Nerdy Peeps! I have a lot going on in life and it’s a little hectic, but I’m going to make it! Like my momma always said, “Never Give Up!”

writers block

Now I have writer’s block…

No worries though, I have a few ways to solve this issue!

Unblocker Helper #2

Reading!

Of course, I had to put this in here! My blog runs around books and all of the greatness. Hence why I bring you book reviews, bookish stuff, and book quotes. You can get a lot from the pages of a book.

*Guess what you can follow me on Goodreads*

Watching the news or well TV in general!

There are all kinds of topics you can get from watching the news (yes, I know it’s boring) or TV in general. You can do a review, or comment on a recent headline, or do an actor/actress synopsis. There’s a ton of ideas. You could even do why the news bores you or makes you mad. (Post coming soon hehe).

Unblocker helper #4

Brainstorm!

Just start writing down all the things you were thinking about writing about. Eventually, you will build on one of those topics and bam you have a new post idea. I literally brainstorm every day to come up with new and better topics.

Now if none of those work…

Take a break from writing. Your brain is probably over worked and needs a good break from getting good things out there. I mean take it from me, I am working on 3 different books, but my brain has decided to take a vacation. That is how I know I need a break from my writing world and give my brain a break from being full of ideas. I just hope it decides to come back soon, I need to get these books out there for y’all to read!

What do you do to get out of writer’s block? I could definitely use some ideas!

Best Quiet Remedies For Depression

Hey, Nerdy Peeps! I have been battling my depression big time lately and it has not been easy. Since the accident I was in on August 5th, I have been really down. So, I wanted to share with you some of my best remedies for depression.

Even on your worst days, think about the things that make you happy or that will always brighten your mood! My favorites are my quiet times that give me time to clear my head and remember everything I love that makes me feel better.

Top 3 Favorite Quiet Times

Writing

best quiet remedies for depression

This is one of my favorite quiet times because I can work on different stories or get my thoughts out and on paper. As you have probably read I have been working on three different stories, or if you’re new you can find them here! Anyway, working on my books always helps me get in a better mood because I get to block out the world and get into the world I am writing about. It helps me fast forward through the sadness and ugly thoughts and puts me in a better place. As for getting my thoughts out on paper, it helps by letting me dump everything and then forget about it all.

Reading

best quiet remedies for depression

My second favorite because I get to go on so many different adventures and they always brighten my mood. Especially when I reread a book that always puts a smile on my face, it just sends the depression to the back of my mind. Speaking of my favorite books that make me laugh and smile, I want to share some recommendations with you!

  • Wallbanger by Alice Clayton (check out my review)
  • Ink Enduring by Carrie Ann Ryan
  • Anything by Janet Evanovich
Walking

best quiet remedies for depression

I love walking! It’s relaxing and a great way to get your exercise in which helps fight depression. Plus, I love spending that time with my ESA and getting some fresh air, it helps me get a better perspective on my life. Walking is my favorite way of getting my mind off things and getting my head to clear of all the crap inside there. Sadly though, since the accident, I have had to take a break. I will get back at it though!

What are your favorite quiet times?
