New Years Book Tag

Hey Nerdy Peeps! How was everyone’s Christmas? Mine was great! I loved all my amazing gifts. Especially the bookish gifts I got. Hubby got me the book, Wonder and a $50 gift card to Books a Million. My Momma in law got me a very cute mug that says Shhh… I’m Reading! Perfect gifts for me. So, what did you get for Christmas? I’d love to know!

Now, onto the tag! This tag was created by one of my favorite booktubers, and you can find her channel here: Bookables!

New Years Book Tag

How many books are you planning to read in 2018?

My goal is 50 books! I had a goal of 40 books for 2017, and I am 3 away from hitting that goal, so I bumped it up to 50.

Hey, Nerdy Peeps! I am finally bringing you a bookish post! I was browsing google looking for an idea and I came across two blogs. My Fictional Bucket List

I Dare You Book Tag

Hey, Nerdy Peeps! I needed a book post idea for today so, I did what I do best and I Googled! Through my google adventure, I came across a blog with a tag that looked like a lot of fun so I decided to give it a go! So, thanks to chellesbookramblings, for the tag!

I Dare You Book Tag

I hope you’re ready to hang out for a bit because we got 20 questions to answer!

1. Which book has been on your shelf the longest?

To Kill a Mockingbird! This book is my all time favorite and I will probably read it again for the 4th time one day. Now, on my Goodreads list, the book that has been on there the longest is, The Ghost and the Goth by  Stacey Kade.

2. What is your current read, your last read, and the book you’ll read next?

  •  Current read is, Every Heart a Doorway by Seanan McGuire
  •  My Last read was Gingerbread at Moonglow by Deborah Garner
  •  Next read will probably be, What Happened to Goodbye by Sarah Dessen, 99 Days by  Katie Cotugno, or The List by Siobhan Vivian. ( I really can’t decide)

3. What book(s) did everyone like but you hated?

I have two choices to this question. Now, don’t hate me these are just books I couldn’t get into. Those books would be Harry Potter and the Mortal Instruments series. I just can’t with these two series.

4. What book do you keep telling yourself you’ll read, but probably won’t?

This would probably be the Red Queen series. They have been on my Too Read list for quite a while and I have yet to read them. I read the first one and I liked it, but I don’t see myself getting to the rest anytime soon.

5. Which books are you saving for retirement?

Um… None of them! That is the most ridiculous question I have ever heard of!

6. Last Page: Read it first, or wait until the end?

Wait until the end! I have no intentions of ruining the story!

7. Acknowledgments: wast of paper and ink, or interesting aside?

I don’t even bother with it. I usually just skip it. Now, if it’s a favorite author then I’ll probably skim through it.

8. Which book character would you switch places with?

McKinley Mills from Southern Pleasure by Kaylee Ryan. At first, she’s confused and doesn’t want to realize that she is in love with Evan and that Evan is in love with her, but towards the end, she finally gives in. Evan, McKinley, and his little girl make such a beautiful family.

I Dare You Book Tag

9. Do you have a book that reminds you of something specific in your life (a person, place, a time)?

The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants. I chose this one because it reminds me of my friendships in high school. I had a few very close friends in high school and no we didn’t share a pair of pants but we did share a lot of laughs and good memories.

10. Name a book that you acquired in an interesting way.

I think other than giveaways, I haven’t acquired books in an interesting way. Just the normal way.

11. Have you ever given away a book for a special reason to a special person?

I love giving books to my niece and nephews. Their faces light up and it makes my heart warm to see how happy they are.

12. Which book has been with you the most places?

To Kill a Mockingbird! This one has been with me everywhere!

I Dare You Book Tag

13. Any “required reading” you hated in high school that wasn’t so bad two years later?

Great Expectations! I hated this book in high school and I actually used Spark Notes for most of my tests and quizzes. Fast forward to a few years after high school and I now love the book!

14. What’s the strangest item you’ve found in a book?

Notes, I have found quite a few notes inside books and some of them were a little weird.

15. Used or Brand New?

Both! A book is a book.

16. Have you ever read a Dan Brown book?

Nope, and I probably never will. Just not my cup of tea.

17. Have you ever seen a movie you like better than the book?

Nope, I have always liked the book better. Movies always mess things up.

18. Is there a book you think never should have been published?

Nope, every book is published for a reason. A book might not be my cup of tea, but it might be someone else’s.

19. Have you ever read a book that’s made you hungry, cookbooks excluded?

Once again, that would be Gingerbread at Moonglow! Oh, my goodness, cookies!

20. Who is the person whose book advice you’ll always take?

This one has me stumped. Mine is more of a what, instead of a who. I use YouTube, Pinterest, and Goodreads, for most of my book advice.

I Dare You Book Tag

This was actually a lot of fun and it took quite a bit of thought, but my brain needed the exercise. Now, this is an open tag so, have at it and have fun!

The Unpopular Opinion Book Tag

Hey, Nerdy Peeps! I am bringing you another book tag! I have seen a few posts and YouTube videos on the unpopular opinion book tag and cannot wait to share my answers with you. Please remember these are just my opinions and we might not share the same ones!

A Popular book/series you didn’t like

Don’t hate me, but this one was pretty easy for because mine happens to be Harry Potter. I could not get into this series no matter how hard I tried. This series (including the movies) just didn’t happen for me. The characters weren’t my kind of characters and I just didn’t like the storylines.

A book series everyone hates but you love

I don’t know if people hate this series, but I never really hear anything about it. On the other hand, this series happens to be one of my faves. The Trylle series is one of my all time favorites and I have read it multiple times.  The books are beautiful and the storyline just sucks you in.

A love triangle where the main character ends up with the person you didn’t want them to end up with

This one would be Katniss and Peeta. I don’t know why, but I just wanted them to be friends. I can see why they ended up together but doesn’t mean I have to like it. If I had to choose, I would have loved to see Katniss with Gale, and Peeta as the uncle!

unpopular opinion book tag

A popular book genre you rarely reach for

Thriller/Suspense, this is not my favorite and I hardly ever pick it up. Now, if you add in some good romance I may be interested. But if it’s just suspenseful then I probably will turn away.

A popular beloved character you can’t seem to get into

America Singer in The Selection. I couldn’t stand her (or the series). Like really, who doesn’t want to have a crown and be a Princess. I mean yeah I know she was in love with someone else, but still.

unpopular opinion book tag

A Popular Author you can’t seem to get into

Once again, don’t hate me, but I cannot get into Cassandra Clare. I read the first book in the Mortal Instrument Series, and although it took some time I did enjoy it. Now, for the second book, it took me forever to finish it and it made me realize I am just not a fan of Clare’s books.

A Popular trope you are tired of seeing

The guy always saving the girl. Why does the guy always have to be the hero? I mean a woman can easily be as heroic as a man. So, bring me some books with female heroes!

A popular series you have no interest in reading

The Vampire Academy. This one is a big nope for me. I just can’t do it, there are too many books out there about Vampires and I they are pretty much worn out. I’ve read my fill so these won’t be on my TBR list.

Book Lovers Survival Tag and an Update

Hey, Nerdy Peeps! Today I am bringing you the book lovers survival tag and an update. I may be a little absent from the blog in the next few days and I wanted to let you know why.

Book Lovers Survival Tag

I have been watching lots of book tube videos since Saturday, and I came across the book lovers survival tag. I am not sure who created the tag but I will leave links the videos I have watched.

This tag was brought to light because of the upcoming release of  A  Map for Wrecked Girls. This book is coming out on August 15th and I am quite excited. In this tag, you have to pick 5 to 8 books you would take with you to a deserted island.

The first book I want to tell you about is A Map for Wrecked Girls…

Book Blurb: Then the unthinkable occurs—a watery nightmare off the dazzling coast. The girls wash up on shore, stranded. Their only companion is Alex, a troubled boy agonizing over his own secrets. Trapped in this gorgeous hell, Emma and Alex fall together as Emma and Henri fall catastrophically apart.  (Goodreads)

I am really looking forward to this book as I am I older sister and I don’t know what it would be like to get stranded with them. Probably pretty scary.

Now Onto my choices…

To Kill A Mockingbird

This book would be my first choice because it is my all time favorite and I can’t picture not having it among my choices. I love all of the history and lessons that are taught in this book. Plus, how can you not love a little girl who gets into all kinds of trouble and just wants to be one of the boys.

Book Blurb: Compassionate, dramatic, and deeply moving, To Kill A Mockingbird takes readers to the roots of human behavior – to innocence and experience, kindness and cruelty, love and hatred, humor and pathos. Now with over 18 million copies in print and translated into forty languages, this regional story by a young Alabama woman claims universal appeal. Harper Lee always considered her book to be a simple love story. Today it is regarded as a masterpiece of American literature. (Goodreads)

The Perks of Being a Wallflower

This would be my second choice because I love how much I related to this story! I feel like I was reading a book about my life and was pulled in to every word I read. It’s definitely a must read if you are trying to find your place in this crazy world.

Book Blurb: The critically acclaimed debut novel from Stephen Chbosky, Perks follows observant “Wallflower” Charlie as he charts a course through the strange world between adolescence and adulthood. First dates, family drama, and new friends. Sex, drugs, and The Rocky Horror Picture Show. Devastating loss, young love, and life on the fringes. Caught between trying to live his life and trying to run from it, Charlie must learn to navigate those wild and poignant roller-coaster days known as growing up. (Goodreads)

Preppy: The Life and Death of Samuel Clearwater Part 3

Of course, I had to include a book from one of my favorite series and favorite authors. T.M. Frazier does an amazing job of bringing you sexy romance, hot and sexy men, and suspense. I love me a bow tie wearing bad boy who loves pancakes and this book did it all for me!

Book Blurb: The bow tie is BACK!
Dre was just a beautiful stranger when Preppy saved her the first time around. Now, he has to save her again, but she’s no longer some stranger, she’s family, and he has no idea who or what he’s up against.
What he does know is that putting his family back together is the only acceptable outcome.
Preppy’s to-do list?

He’s alive…and he’s out for BLOOD.

The Fault In Our Stars

I’ll probably need to have a good cry since I will be stranded and all, so why not pick a book that made me cry. This was such a beautiful story and I couldn’t pass it up to add to my list.  The love story this book gives you will make you mad, it will make you laugh, and it will make you cry but it is so worth it.

Book Blurb: Despite the tumor-shrinking medical miracle that has bought her a few years, Hazel has never been anything but terminal, her final chapter inscribed upon diagnosis. But when a gorgeous plot twist named Augustus Waters suddenly appears at Cancer Kid Support Group, Hazel’s story is about to be completely rewritten.

Sweet Reckoning (Sweet #3)

This has got to be one of my favorite in the YA series about half demons. If you love stories about the 7 deadly sins then you will love to sink your brain into this one! I love this series because it was always something different, but the third happened to be my favorite.  Of course, this may be the only YA I chose, but I had to have one in this list somewhere.

Book Blurb: The stakes are higher than ever, and Anna is determined that the love she feels will be her strength, not a liability. But trying to protect the ones she loves while running for her life and battling demonic forces proves to be perilous—especially as faces are changing and trust is fleeting. When the Duke of Lust sends Anna’s great love, Kaidan Rowe, to work against her, Anna must decide how much she’s prepared to risk.

Mr. Dark

Now, if I had a boss like Mr. Dark I would love going to work every day.  Just like Ava though, I wouldn’t want to be broken by a man, but I wouldn’t mind being in Mr. Dark’s bed. Also, if you’re going to be stuck on an island you need a good steamy read to keep your mind distracted.

Book lovers survival tag and an update

Book BlurbMr. Dark – I know what they say about me, I’m demanding, but that’s only because I know what I want and I don’t play games. I don’t do girlfriends; I walk away without a second glance…until I met her. I feel myself losing control around her, will she be the one to bring me to my knees?

Ava – All I’ve ever wanted was to own a magazine. Doing this internship at Dark Media wasn’t my first choice. I do what I’m told until I meet him. He wants me, I can see it in his eyes, but he wants more than I can give. He unnerves me; he wants me to submit to him.
How can I say no to him when my heart is saying something else? What if he breaks me?
Will I be able to walk away with my heart still intact when this is all over?

So, here are my 6 choices for being stranded on an island. What books would you choose?

Saturday, August 5, 2017, I was involved in a car accident and it was pretty scary. The vehicle I was in took a tumble, but everyone is home and resting. As for my sister’s wedding, we are planning and finding a new date.  I am sore and healing slowly but I am making it. Any prayers and good vibes you want to send my way are greatly appreciated.
