Guess Who’s Making her Dreams a Reality?

Me that’s who!

Hey, Nerdy Peeps! You remember the post where I told y’all about making my dreams become a reality. Well, I’m doing it! I’m writing, and soon I will be able to share my very first novel with all of you! What gave me the push? Well, let me tell you!

NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month)

November is the month for writing. So, for the very first time since I started writing, I am participating in NaNoWriMo! That’s right I am challenging myself along with other writers to knock out a novel in a month. I couldn’t be more excited to go on this journey.

NaNoWriMo Guidelines

They’re pretty easy. It starts on November 1 and ends on November 30th! You start with nothing and by the end of the 30 days, you need to write 50,000 words.

My Daily Word Counts

Day 1 – 1809 words!

Day 2 – I didn’t write this day

Day 3 – 865 words!

Day 4 and day 5 – I started out slow so I don’t have a new count for these days.

Day 6 -3822 words! I was starting to find my mojo!

Day 7 – 3747 words!

Day 8 – 2886 words! I stopped early to watch the CMA’s (I love country music, so I couldn’t miss it!)

Day 9 -336 words! Don’t worry I haven’t finished writing for today so this number is low.

That means I have written a total of 13,465 words! In all my life I have never written that many words for one thing. And, all this writing is getting me so excited to get my novel out there. It has become more than just a few words on a page and is turning out to be a pretty awesome story. Yes, I might be biased, but hey it’s my book hehe!

So how many words does that leave?

36,535 words! Of course, that number will change since I am nowhere near done writing today. I plan to give weekly updates for the month and towards the end of the challenge, I am going to start sharing sneak peaks of my book!

Oh, I almost forgot I have a new Facebook Page where you can find all kinds of updates and my journey as an author! So, check it out and give it a like! That way you never miss anything I am up to!

10 Minute Challenge for Better Self Care

Hey Nerdy Peeps! I watched a Facebook live video that made me realize I need to take some time for myself. My self-care is seriously slacking and I really need to work on it. So, what am I going to do? I am going to take 10 minutes every night, just for myself and work on my self-care. I also want to take the time to help you out and challenge you for to take 10 minutes for yourself and better your self-care.

Spotlight Sunday: You Need To Read This Book!

I am starting a new series on my blog called Spotlight Sunday! It was started by Closet Readers, but I haven’t seen any new posts made since last year. I thought with being a newish blogger I’d start it back up.  So, every Sunday I will be sharing a book that I think deserves the spotlight!

Today’s spotlight book is…

To Kill a Mockingbird

Book Snippet:
Compassionate, dramatic, and deeply moving, To Kill A Mockingbird takes readers to the roots of human behavior – to innocence and experience, kindness and cruelty, love and hatred, humor and pathos. Now with over 18 million copies in print and translated into forty languages, this regional story by a young Alabama woman claims universal appeal. Harper Lee always considered her book to be a simple love story. Today it is regarded as a masterpiece of American literature. (Goodreads)

Spotlight Sunday: You Need to Read This Book!

I absolutely love this book! It is my all time favorite and a definite must read. This book is an ultimate classic and takes you back in time to a summer during the Great Depression. You’ll fall in love with Atticus and his children Scout and Jem. The children endure a summer acting out stories with their new friend Dill. You’ll also find that Scout absolutely hates school and does not want to go back. She is also a kick ass and asks questions later who can’t keep her attitude to herself.

As you can probably tell Scout is my favorite character in the book. I love her attitude and how she wants to just be one of the boys. Her dad tries to keep her in line but she has a mind of her own and lets you know what it’s about.

Why it’s Worth the read…

To put it plainly it’s a classic. Also, it is beautifully written by the amazing Harper Lee. It may have been her first of two books but it is the top of my love it forever list. I don’t know what else I can say other than you need this book and it has lots of pretty covers!

See Ya Later June: You Will Not Be Missed

Hey Nerdy Peeps, we made it to the last day of the 30 Day Writing Challenge! Today’s topic is “your highs and lows for the month.” Well, this month was hell! I had lots of lows for this month and some highs, but I am so glad June is over. So, see ya later June: you will not be missed!

You know that saying, “do you want the bad news or good news first?”

Well, we are starting with the lows. That way it makes the highs so much better!

My Lows For June

  • My marriage hit a snag (don’t want to share too much here)
  • My hubby had knee surgery and is still home from work
  • Money is really tight and I am a huge ball of stress
  • I have been in a major book slump and it sucks (I only finished one book out of the 4 I read this month)
  • My anxiety and depression hit a high this month and I need a break from life

So, those are some of my lows for the month. As you can see it was a tough one. Now, that I made you sad with the lows, let’s brighten this post up with some highs!

My Highs For June

  • My marriage is going way better!
  • I finished the first chapter of my adult novel
  • I made it through the 30 Day Writing Challenge!

As you can see, there weren’t that many highs but that’s ok. I still made it through the month in one piece. I am hoping and praying for a better July because Lord knows my anxiety and depression needs it!

See Ya Later June: You Will Not Be Missed

I am so glad for this month to be over. I had way too many lows this month and it was starting to get hard to handle. It was making me want to crawl in the closet and disappear for the rest of the summer. As great as running from all of the lows sounds, I know I can’t do that. That’s not what my life needs. I have to fight through the anxiety and depression and make it through this life one day at a time. I know I can do this, just gotta take it one step at a time.

What were your highs and lows for this month?
