Weekend Recuperation with Lots of Self Care

Hey Nerdy Peeps! Last week was a doosey, and I wanted to stay in bed all day and do absolutely nothing. Depression was suffocating and anxiety held me down like a rock. Yeah, it was not a pretty week for me or my mind. So, I recuperated with a weekend of self-care.

4 Tips for Self-Care Weekend Recuperation

So, Jessie what exactly did you do? Well, let me tell you.

Tip #1: Take lots of naps.

Naps were a much-needed thing to get my mind back where I needed it to be, and when I woke up this morning I felt great. My mind was back on track and I felt relaxed and ready to conquer the week.

Tip #2: Escaped Reality through reading.

I read a lot and it was the best thing ever! I finished one book and got pretty far on the other one I have been reading. My current read is Instructions for a Second-Hand Heart by Tamsyn Murray, and let me tell you this it is absolutely the best book I have read in a while. Just wait for the review!

Tip #3: I did some painting. 

No joke, I painted four canvases in a matter of a couple of hours and I loved it. It turned out to be very relaxing and took away quite a bit of stress. I’m going to start stocking up on canvases and paints. I can’t wait to see what other things I can paint.

Tip #4: Also, just my favorite thing. 

Comfy clothes are a must for a self-care weekend. I mean you don’t need anything else, but comfy clothes, a throw blanket, sweet tea!

With all of those tips, you should have the perfect arsenal for a weekend recuperation. Self-care is the best way to go, take a nap, read a book, paint a picture, and wear some comfy clothes. Trust me you will thank me later!

Yeah, that feeling really sucks!

Pushy salespeople

If I want to buy anything you’re selling, I’ll let you know! Don’t push me.


Sweetheart, no one is perfect, so just give up.

Guess what? I was a girl scout and the troop I was in had nicknames for all the girls. Mine happened to be Pooh! So, why not get a Winnie the Pooh tattoo!

Now, last but not least this drawing would be the best addition to all of my tattoos. I love the Beauty and the Beast and this tattoo would be perfect. The only thing I would add inside the mirror is “tale as old as time.”

Nerdy Book Life Joined a Gym

Hey Nerdy Peeps! WHAT!? Did I join a gym? Yes, Yes I did! I joined a gym and I couldn’t be happier. So, why am I excited? Well, that’s what I’m going to tell you about.

5 Reasons Why It Was The Best Decision

Mile 1

My mental health has gotten better. I mean a lot better. Yes, I’m still taking the meds, because I know I need them, but the gym has helped where the meds don’t. When I’m at the gym, my thoughts clear, my stress calms, my anxiety seems almost none existent, and the depression just falls away.

Mile 2

I feel stronger. No, not because of the weights or all the training but because I made a decision to better myself. I made the decision to get healthier and better myself, and that’s why I feel stronger!

Mile 3

I make healthier choices. Instead of a burger, I’ll get grilled chicken. I’ll order a salad instead of mac n cheese for a side. I drink more water than I thought I ever could, and it has helped with headaches and my energy levels. And trust me I need the energy.

Mile 4

My self-confidence is getting better. I put on a brave face for everyone when it comes to my self-confidence. I’m like “yeah I look good!” but on the inside, I’m like “nope I look like a fat cow, and frumpy, and gross,” but I don’t want people to see that. So, now thanks to the gym I don’t have to fake being brave.

Mile 5

Most importantly, I’m getting healthier. I’m getting to the point where I can walk without wheezing. My legs are getting stronger and I don’t feel as weak anymore. I’ve lost a few pounds, and hey that’s a big accomplishment for me. Last but not least, I am going to be beach ready by vacation time come September!

For me, there are more than just the simple benefits of joining the gym. There are all the benefits of getting healthy plus the benefits of helping my mental health journey. I plan to keep you updated on this journey and where it takes me! We are going to do this together. Well, I’ll be doing all the work, but you Peeps will be reading about it!
