Beauty and the Beast Retellings

Hey Nerdy Peeps! So, my all-time favorite fairy tale is Beauty and the Beast, and after watching the real-life remake I am obsessed with reading retellings. I’m also a Netflix junkie and I’ve been binge-watching the Beauty and the Beast series, and let me just tell you I am in love! Now, onto the books!

Beauty and the Beast Retellings

Let’s start with the book I am currently reading and can’t put down. Now, this book is a twisted retelling and so far it’s ah-mazing! I mean just read this book blurb!

As Old As Time by Liz Braswell

I love this cover! That’s why I bought it!

Belle is a lot of things: smart, resourceful, restless. She longs to escape her poor provincial town for good. She wants to explore the world, despite her father’s reluctance to leave their little cottage in case Belle’s mother returns—a mother she barely remembers. Belle also happens to be the captive of a terrifying, angry beast. And that is her primary concern.

But Belle touches the Beast’s enchanted rose, intriguing images flood her mind—images of the mother she believed she would never see again. Stranger still, she sees that her mother is none other than the beautiful Enchantress who cursed the Beast, his castle, and all its inhabitants. Shocked and confused, Belle and the Beast must work together to unravel a dark mystery about their families that is twenty-one years in the making. (Goodreads)

Who wouldn’t want to read this book? Oh, and there will be a review as soon as I’m finished reading!

Beastly by Alex Flinn

I loved this movie, so I know I will probably love the book! And everyone knows the book is better than the movie, so I have to read it. You also can’t pass up these covers, I mean come on!

I am a beast.

A beast. Not quite wolf or bear, gorilla or dog but a horrible new creature who walks upright—a creature with fangs and claws and hair springing from every pore. I am a monster.

You think I’m talking fairy tales? No way. The place is New York City. The time is now. It’s no deformity, no disease. And I’ll stay this way forever—ruined—unless I can break the spell.

Yes, the spell, the one the witch in my English class cast on me. Why did she turn me into a beast who hides by day and prowls by night? I’ll tell you. I’ll tell you how I used to be Kyle Kingsbury, the guy you wished you were, with money, perfect looks, and the perfect life. And then, I’ll tell you how I became perfectly . . . beastly. (Goodreads)

This movie was beautiful, and I loved every second of it.

The Vixen and The Vet by Katie Regnery

Now, I just came across this one but the cover is pretty hot so, I read the blurb. This blurb made me want to buy the book and read it. So, guess what book just got onto my wish-list!

Misfits in small-town Danvers, Savannah, and Asher create a bond right away, touching each other’s hearts in ways neither thought possible. When a terrible mistake threatens to drive them apart, they’ll have to decide if the love they found in one another’s arms is strong enough to fight for their hard-won happily ever after. (Not the whole blurb but you get the point!) (Goodreads)

I mean that sounds enticing, right? Yeah, I thought so too!

Mistress to the Beast by Eve Vaughn

This was another good one I couldn’t pass up. The blurb pulled me in and the cover’s not so bad to look at either.

A serious accident left Hunter Jamison’s body scarred. A bitter split from his latest lover has left the former playboy without faith in the female sex. Yet, confronted with Lila’s fiery beauty, he finds himself offering her a deal: If she’ll be his mistress for three months, he’ll allow her father to keep the shop. (Not the full blurb, but hey you can find it here!)

Another one added to my wish list! Amazon is going to be getting all of my money soon!

As you can see I’m a little obsessed when it comes to Beauty and the Beast, but hey what girl isn’t. Plus, I really feel like I relate to Belle. I mean not with the whole dating the Beast thing, but the whole book nerd thing. Have you seen her library? It’s amazing! I need one!

Timeless Ever After: An Anthology

Hello, sexy fairy tales! As soon as I started reading these stories I couldn’t stop. They were amazing and full of everything I love in a story. There are 15 stories from 15 fantabulous authors and I don’t even know where to start, but here we go.

We start with one of my favorites. A retelling of Sleeping Beauty. The first one is called Upon a Dream by Tiffany Carby. Insomnia, love, jealousy, and some sexy time, I mean what more could you want! Then we have a lovely retelling of the Little Red Riding Hood. This one has a sexy biker and a little bit of magic. Fall in love with Lil Red and the Big Bad Biker.

Well, Jessie, what else does this anthology hold?

We also have a retelling of my all-time favorite Beauty and the Beast! This retelling comes with a twist of a bratty princess and the hunky beast that has to save her. There’s even one from a fairytale I haven’t thought about in a while. The Princess and the Pea was retold into A Princess for Hans and boy was this a good one! Even if a princess has to be put through some tests to prove she’s a princess.

All in all, I loved this anthology! It was amazingly written by some amazing authors that I can’t get enough of.
