Thank you, Next Book Tag!

Hey Nerdy Peeps! I’M BACK!!! It’s been a while and I am so sorry I have been absent. Let me just tell you that mental health issues suck! I have been in the worst funk ever, but slowly but surely I am getting back on track! Anyway, let’s get to today’s post! That’s right I found a new book tag that goes along with Ariana Grande’s new song Thank You, Next!

I found the tag through Peace Love Books on youtube! Thank You Next Book Tag

Thank You, Next Book Tag!

Name a book that you said “thank you, next” to i.e. DNF’d (did not finish)

The only book I never finished was Thirteen Reasons Why… This book was just way too much for my mental health and I couldn’t do that to myself.

You can answer the next three together or separate 🙂

Name a book that taught you love

Instructions for a Secondhand Heart by Tamsyn Murray

This book has all the feels and I couldn’t love it more than I already do!

Name a book that taught you patience

I actually just finished the perfect book for this!
It would have to be Stay a Little Longer by Jess Bryant

Trent was outed before he was ready.
Lance was in the closet for good.
When these two met sparks flew.
They both had to be patient with the others feelings.
Especially Trent since Lance wasn’t ready to come out.

Name a book that taught you pain

I feel like this might be everyone’s answer but this one would definitely be The Fault in Our Stars! Oh boy, this book will make you cry all of the tears!

Name a book that you loved at the time of reading but in hindsight, you do not like it as much anymore, but which you still learned some other quality from

This Song Will Save Your Life by Leila Sales
At the time I loved this book but not so much anymore, but I still keep the “no matter what always be you” mentality this book taught me!

Name a book you’re currently talking to, i.e. have the hots for

The Devil by Ashley Jade
Oh, holy hotness! This book is wow!

Name a book that gon’ last – the book of you – the book that helped you love yourself a little bit more

Hands down… Girl Wash Your Face! This book is everything and more. I loved it so much and it helped me get through a rough patch in life! Definite must read!

I tag anyone and everyone who wants to do this tag! Have fun!

Deadly Love is Finally Here

Hey Nerdy Peeps! It’s here! Deadly Love is finally here! My book baby is live and it’s here! This is a huge dream come true and I am so excited!

Deadly Love is Finally Here

Deadly Love is Finally Here

Lexi Madison wasn’t the girl she used to be in Detroit. She did her best to leave her past where it belonged in the past. That even meant leaving the man she shot there. There was no way she was going to marry her father’s drug dealer’s son, even if she knew him.

Derek never wanted to live in his father’s footsteps, but he knew he wanted Lexi, even if it meant tricking her. The only thing he didn’t see happening was being shot by the one woman he loved. They may have been best friends, but now he was pissed.

Angelica Stone

Following years of sexual abuse, Angelica is brought up in care. As a teenager, she absconds, living on the streets, before eventually being forced into prostitution to survive. She learns to rely solely on herself and is reluctant to allow anyone to get close to her until she forms an unlikely bond with Lola. In contrast, Lola is from what appears to be a happy middle-class background – but all is not what it seems…

Slowly, as their friendship grows, cracks start to appear in Lola’s life, and a series of events leave her on the verge of ruin. Can these women break the cycle of their lives? Or will they succumb to the path laid out before them? Angelica Stone is an emotional rollercoaster of laughter and tears as the women embark on a journey of self-discovery, with the support of one another.

My Review

First, let me start by saying this book may have some trigger warnings for anyone who has dealt with sexual abuse.

angelica stone by susi osborne book review

So, after reading the blurb for this book I was all in for a good friendship between two women who help each other through their healing process, but I was wrong. This book was a lot darker than I thought it would be, but that’s what kept me hooked. Susi did an amazing job of making the scenes job off the page. Angelica and Lola’s relationship was a perfect friendship they built each other up and you get to see Angelica from Lola’s perspective. From there you see how different their lives are, but also how that makes their friendship stronger.

I love how Susi intertwined the laughs with the dark. It made the dark more bearable to read. So, don’t be fooled by the blurb, just pick the book up and read it. You won’t be disappointed.

Author Bio – Susi Osborne is the author of The Ripples of Life, Grace & Disgrace, Secrets, Lies & Butterflies and Angelica Stone. She lives in Cheshire with her Scottish husband, her actress daughter, and their two mischievous little dogs. Susi also has an adult son and a grandson who live nearby. Amongst friends, their house is known affectionately (she hopes!) as the Osborne madhouse, for obvious reasons.

Before she became a writer, Susi worked in libraries for many years. She also worked as a classroom assistant in a junior school. In addition to her writing, Susi organizes Northwich LitFest, which she has been running for the past seven years. Alongside the writing of her latest book, Angelica Stone, Susi has been raising money for Centrepoint, the charity for youth homelessness, and has set up a Just Giving Page for the charity in her name.

Susi is a firm believer in the fact that it’s never too late to do anything. ‘You only have one life – go out and grab it with both hands!’

The Good Sister by Rachael Stewart Book Review

Hey Nerdy Peeps! Here is a review for Rachael Stewart’s new book The Good Sister. This book was another hot one so sit back and enjoy!

The Good Sister

When Isla Evans agrees to switch lives with her rising star of a twin for three weeks, she has no idea the move will thrust her into the same bed as her teenage celebrity heart-throb, Bradley King. Trapped there at her sister’s request, she gives her desire free reign and finds herself falling hard and fast.

And she’s not alone.

Bradley wants a wife to tick all the boxes, save for one: love. It’s not part of the deal, never was, never will be. But when he returns home early to find his hopeful-fiancé behaving all sorts of different, he likes it. A lot. Suddenly, he wants a real marriage, with all the trimmings, and he will stop at nothing until he gets it.

Book Review

This one was a hot one! It wasn’t as raunchy as Unshackled, but it was good. Isla switches places with her twin sister for a few weeks, but Carrie forgot to mention her boyfriend. The boyfriend happens to be Isla’s teenage crush.

Now, they are falling in love, but Bradley doesn’t know the truth. Their flirting is adorable and I couldn’t get enough. I was waiting for Isla and Carries secret to come out, but the more it didn’t the more these two fell in love.

I loved everything about this story and I love Rachael’s writing style she is absolutely amazing and is becoming one of my top favorite authors! She does an amazing job with this entire story you won’t want to put it down and you will love the happy ending!

Check out my review of Unshackled

But this Hollywood HEA faces one big hurdle—she’s not who he thinks she is…

Sweet Heat at Bayside Book Review

Sweet Heat at Bayside Book Review

Fall in love at Bayside, where sandy beaches, good friends, and true love come together in the sweet small towns of Cape Cod. Bayside Summers is a series of standalone romance novels featuring fiercely loyal heroes and sassy, empowered women. They’re fun, flirty, flawed, and easy to relate to.

In Sweet Heat at Bayside…
Drake Savage has always done the right thing, especially where beautiful and fiercely determined Serena Mallery is concerned—even when it means keeping his feelings for her to himself. Serena has always wanted more than what their small town of Wellfleet, Massachusetts has to offer, and Drake’s roots are so deeply entrenched in the Cape, it’s all he can do to watch her pack up her life and move away.

Serena has always had big dreams. As a teenager, she dreamed of becoming an interior designer and marrying smart, musically inclined, sexy-as-sin Drake Savage. Now she’s finally landed a killer job with a top interior design firm, but though she has spent the last four years working side by side with Drake, he’s never made a move. Four years is long enough for her to accept reality, and her new job in Boston is the perfect way to move on.

A weak moment leads to sizzling, sensual kisses, opening a door through which they’ve both been aching to walk. But Serena’s determined not to give up her shot at the career she’s always dreamed of, and Drake has loved her for too many years to stand in her way. With true love at their fingertips and a world of unstoppable passion igniting between them, can the two star-crossed lovers find their way to their happily ever after?

My Review

Drake has always had feelings for the beautiful Serena, but of course, he would never let her know. They’ve been working together for the past four years and when an amazing opportunity for Serena pops up he loves her too much to get in the way.

Since neither of them will act on their feelings Serena decides it’s time to move on and take the job in Boston. Even though Drake holds his feelings back he decides that he can’t let her go after all.

Drake and Serena’s friendship was absolutely adorable, and every time they wouldn’t let their feelings get in the way I was like “oh come on now tell each other!” but nope Addison left us waiting. I loved it though! When they finally do tell each other it was the cutest thing ever. I’m always up for a good love story and Addison never disappoints. So, if you haven’t already you definitely need to give her stories a shot!
